The Family of Artist Gebran Tarazi Donates to the Lebanese University in Support of its National Role

Driven by a commitment to support the illustrious historical journey of fine arts at the Lebanese University—specifically within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture—the family of the late Lebanese artist Gebran Tarazi collaborated with the Faculty’s Dean, Dr. Hicham Zeineddine. The family praised his tireless efforts to provide an optimal environment for students across all artistic disciplines to achieve success and foster opportunities for creative development.

Within the framework of this cooperation, the family of Gebran Tarazi (1944–2010) donated on February 4th, 2026 a collection of books in Arabic, French, and English to the Faculty. These publications shed light on the artist’s unique journey, including:

Gebran Tarazi: Geometrical Variations (French/Arabic, Fine Arts Publishing, Lebanon, 2007): Authored by Gebran Tarazi himself, this volume includes his artistic and philosophical manifesto, “The Oriental Need”

Gebran Tarazi: The Twelve Seasons (French/English, Zaman Books, Paris, 2017): Authored by the French art historian Morad Montazami.

Works by Iraqi Art Critic Khudhair al-Zaidi: Including Gebran Tarazi:

– A Story of Oriental Artistic Creativity (Adib Books, Jordan, 2024) and

– Gebran Tarazi: Pioneer of Authenticity and Innovation (Baghdad, 2025).

The “Geometrical Variations” Catalogue (2011): Issued on the occasion of the first retrospective exhibition held after the artist’s passing at Villa Audi in Beirut, featuring testimonials from prominent intellectuals.

This donation serves as a gesture of appreciation for the official, moral, and national role of the Lebanese University, which has graduated successive generations of leading Lebanese visual artists.

In conclusion, the family of the late Gebran Tarazi expressed their deepest gratitude to Dean Dr. Hicham Zeineddine for his warm reception and his efforts to elevate Gebran Tarazi’s name and immortalize his legacy on a national level, wishing him continued success in his leadership of the Faculty.
